Alli Mang serves as Canada's Global Wellness Day Ambassador, stepping into a role that remained open for thirteen years, perhaps waiting for the right moment and person to bring this global vision to Canadian communities.

Global Wellness Day has grown from one woman's idea into a worldwide phenomenon, celebrated every second Saturday of June across 170+ countries. What began in 2012 through founder Belgin Aksoy's vision has become something even greater: a movement now gaining recognition from the United Nations as a significant world event. This isn't about one day; it's about making wellness everyone's birthright.
Each year brings a theme that sparks creativity worldwide. The 2025 #ReconnectMagenta theme invited us to pause and reconnect with nature, ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. What makes Global Wellness Day special is how each culture brings its own traditions: free yoga in Türkiye, indigenous sound healing in Australia, mindfulness in Ireland, peace hikes in Nepal. Every activity shares the same purpose of making wellness accessible and joyful for everyone.
As Canada's ambassador, Mang helps connect Canadian communities to this global movement. "I ask as many people as I come in contact with this simple question: what does wellness mean to you?" she shares. "This sparks so many conversations and descriptions. I see wellness as a four-pillar cathedral built through BODY wellness, SOUL wellness, MENTAL wellness and FINANCIAL wellness." It's about creating spaces where everyone, regardless of background, can experience wellness in all its dimensions.
We're part of something that started with one person's dream and has grown to touch over 1.7 billion people, proving that when we unite around wellbeing, we create change that crosses all borders.

What Does Wellness Mean to You?
As Canada’s Global Wellness Day Ambassador, Alli Mang invited her community to reflect on this powerful question. In the spirit of GWD’s global movement - where over 170 countries celebrate wellness in their own unique way - Alli asked Canadians to share a single word that captures what wellness means to them.
From soul-nourishing nature walks to everyday moments of connection, these voices remind us that wellness isn’t a luxury - it’s a birthright. Below, you’ll find a collection of words and short videos from individuals across the country, each one offering a glimpse into the heart of what it means to #ReconnectMagenta.
Together, we’re building a wellness culture that’s bold, inclusive, and deeply personal. Watch. Reflect. Share your own.
